All In A Day’s Work

When I first awoke
it was a bright new day.
The air was crisp;
not a cloud in the sky.
And the birds – I did not know them by name,
yet they chirped joyfully.

Change

The way of the universe is change.
Change is forever forthcoming.
Walls are a futile attempt to prevent transformations; to hold on to the past.
All that barriers do is build pressure; a damn that will sooner or later give way.
And when the looming collapse occurs,
the damage multiplies; a disastrous flood.

Floresta; a walk in the forest

Two trees; one still adolescent, the other ancient.
I place my palm, caressing the youngling’s bark;
so smooth, yet a little cold.
